Antique Chinese gold bracelet set with 5 natural jadeite jade cabochons in 20k gold.

The jade is Type A jadeite jade (no dye or any coated treatment), as is all the jade jewellery we offer for sale.

The jade approximates apple green, with more white than the modern pursuit of ‘apple green’. It is an old jade colour loved for its brightness (over the current fascination with ‘vividness’, hence imperial green). All five jade pieces are uniform in shade and rather big, with each cabochon at 12mm by 9mm.

We know this bracelet has over 80 years from the way the links are constructed. The gold links are backed by delicate ‘beams’ under the surface, not unlike the beams under a bridge. Each domed link is designed to look like a leaf, with light etchings of an actual leaf. These etchings or patterning actually serve to reduce the shine of the high karat gold.

The bracelet is hallmarked with a long gone Chinese jeweller’s stamp.
