Fine pair of classical style necklaces set with amber, garnet and glass beads with solid gold accents in 24k and 22k.

Aside from the round yellow amber beads, all material (stone and glass) is ancient material.

Real amber with millions of years is strung with amber glass, the latter with over 1300 years.

While many would not have heard of ‘amber glass’, it is a very coveted decorated bead, collected by an underground and lofty crowd.

In that time, these amber glass beads were created by peoples living in the archipelago, to mimic amber.

Some of these amber beads, from amber’s likeness to gold, were perceived like gold, except one bead could actually be golden and BIG, while gold on the other hand…

(The big golden beads on the necklaces are 10mm thereabouts.)

Hence, over time, it is these amber glass that have become highly precious, the double and triple beads with their strange look straddling ornament and pupa.

Like the more well-known Pumtek bead, there are reproductions of these ancient ‘gold-like’ glass, but these are NOT the 20th century versions of various quality being made and traded.

To engage the primitive beauty of ancient material, we hand made rugged gold accents: 24k elongated bicone beads; 22k lantern beads; 22k bicone clasps, etc.

Necklace 1 is thinner: amber glass; purple garnet pebble beads; a pair of citrine & quartz beads.

Necklace 2 is chunkier: amber; amber glass; Pumtek bead, quartz beads.

Other than the ‘new’ gold, everything that made it to these necklaces are ancient material, collected over a long period.

These two necklaces are designed to be worn together, they blend an organic ring of warmth around the neck.

The necklaces measure 16″ and 18″.
