Description
Ancient Style Cat’s Eye Chrysoberyl Ring
24k chunky gold ancient style ring set with a Sri Lankan cat’s eye chrysoberyl weighing 21.89ct.
The Sri Lankan chrysoberyl is a translucent greenish yellow, displaying both the color and texture of honey.
The honey effect of this cat’s eye makes for a lively gem with no need for accent stones, just pure gold aura to warm what is a very human stone.
Hence its archetypal ‘medieval’ design.
These domed contours flow from stone to gold. This is not an easy feat, seeing the ring weighs 45 grams.
The stone pushes from beneath the gold – its bezel is a distinct artisan technique that makes use of the attributes of 24k gold, its foil-like beauty when thickset is not ‘soft’, but looks soft.
The timeworn finish of the ring is soulful, not rough hewn, because the contours are intact and does not suffer form.
Its underside is as beautiful.
A ring like this cannot be cast, or hammered into shape; the gold must first be sculpted by hand.
The stone measures 14.31 x 12.92 x 11.85 mm.
The ring’s face spans 25.5 x 19 mm, with a finger size of 11.5.
