Description
Double Stacked Ring
Fine ring pairings set in 18k.
A spot between modernist and Greco forms is chosen for the stack.
While bezel settings may make a small stone look smaller, if relished in thicker gold their forms emanate much larger.
But only if these forms are distinguished, through shape play and color.
The oval ruby is not fully collared in its teardrop bezel, the princess cut diamonds are motioned deeply into their cups.
Such idiosyncratic choices may seem less than perfect in traditional techniques of setting stones, yet they create a strong visual identity for even uninterested eyes.
The diamonds are almost tied to balance, in a textured seed pod. The star ruby in its too sparse dark cloak.
The unconscious nod to small rebellion can be fulfilling, from brief to breath.
Each ring can be worn on its own, perhaps that is how sleek each is.
A whole new art form stacks if the mood calls.
