Description
Fine statement ring set with an unheated 2.57ct padparadscha sapphire and accented with diamonds weighing 2ctw in 22k.
The natural sapphire is orangey pink, its light tone has a medium saturation.
This sapphire comes from the Pakistan-Kashmir mine, the region where Kashmir sapphires were found; fine specimens are rare.
The tone is silky indoors, and icy outdoors, this icy lightness reveals the fiery beauty of light hues.
This is a statement ring crafted to an old world standard, through using traditional jewelry-making techniques.
The ring mount is sculpted, not cast.
Its gold work is carved bit by bit until a contour is reached to qualify as an ‘heirloom’ jewel.
For few old world rings have padparadschas as the main stone.
The double halo runs small to big, possible only with a centre stone that is small.
An ode to Victorian heirloom rings, the ring’s splendour is its way of building a halo to the effect of a cluster.
This is distinct from halo for halo’s sake: the diamonds follow both a radial symmetry, and a more-stone-than-gold reveal.
The above falls down to Heirloom techniques. Craftsmanship is the below.
Its mastery of gold work: extremely intricate through very delicate prong work – the prongs are actually beautiful.
The carriage of the ring is sculptural and stunning, hence the ring sits tall but flushed at the same time.
This is a timeless jewel with a sought-after stone, we built it to keep alive a slowly disappearing artistry.
It is not possible to build these heirloom style rings in CAD; the precise proportions can only be achieved at the bench.
Few in the world will build a complex ring in this way today, just to make one available for sale serendipitously.
Anglo Indian or Edwardian, this ring is part of a series of double halo rings handmade in the way of heirloom techniques.
This one is called ‘Lotus’; the other two rings are ‘Nightingale’ and ‘Peacock’.
When you put this ring on, its intention becomes clear.
The ring’s cluster spans 20mm by 18mm.
