Pink Tourmaline Jewelry Set

Fine pink tourmaline jewelry set with pala pink tourmalines in 18k and 22k.

This earring-ring duo pairs two large pears with two smaller trillions, compacting the bubblegum pink for spectral eye candy.

Earrings, 18k

Teardrops make classic looks for larger earrings, if the stone is big enough the look is also luxuriant.

Its drop style may be modern through formal shapes, but its bezels are formed through irregular gold work.

This gold work is lush through broad strokes, nothing thinned or slight, not even prongs, the frame in fact a cage.

This cage technique relates to the depth of the stones (deeply cut stones on the ears!), without resorting to a chunk of gold.

Down to the depth of these stones great amounts of light is at play with its beautiful inclusions – caging makes this color go further.

Yet the cage does not cage it all, the tips, like antenna, better left unattended.

Each 12mm South Sea pearl is carried by similarly irregular gold hoops, above too its gold melted then freezing a lone diamond.

Ring, 22k

Many pala tourmaline stones are cut with depth to flesh out their color in a striking way – a technique to conserve color and size is to put two same specimen side by side.

The trillions band to form twin peaks on one face, the same irregular gold cages the two stones, right through the ‘makeshift’ bands.

Their trillion outlines are passed over by two distinct cups, one animated and one random, both cartoony, each stone rounding the color of the pink and lavender in its own way.

On two fingers the peaks sit tall but not tall for a ‘knuckle ring’.

This ideas behind Pala Pala! demonstrate the conversation between gem type/color and stone shape/cut.

Its design is the visual of that conversation made simple, though not simply.

If you cut a particular ‘silky’ stone into a fancy shape, design could address this in an offhanded way, that is, a little ways off abstract and absurd, nonchalant art.

Like high fashion jewelry and unlike high fashion CAD lookalikes, we built one to spar the other, in tandem they smack lush off ennui pink.

The earrings are 4cm tall and the ring’s face span 2.5cm across two fingers.

The tourmalines weigh 20.58ctw (pear) and 12.14ctw (trillion).
