Blue Sapphire Mens Ring

Fine solitaire ring set with an unheated blue sapphire weighing 3.9ct.

The natural Sri Lankan sapphire is set in three gold alloys.

The stone is housed in a fully framed 24k bezel, meaning the stone is wrapped in its whole.

If the stone has sufficient fire, wrapping the stone is an artisanal gesture, to keep design sharp and minimal.

The fringe of pure virgin gold around the stone is a visual collar, effectively hovering the stone to above the band, still quite flushed.

This window of opportunity can only be done for sapphires in the region of 5 carats, the constraint being the depth of the stone as well as our finger size.

The band is constructed ‘picket by picket’, the cross-section and profile views is a big part of the ring, it is beautiful, and comfortable to wear.

Using 22k yellow gold and 18k with high palladium, the color of golds float into one another, it is not the brutal white gold. Only the blue will manifest.

The ring is all of the color of original gold, no plating is necessary afterwards. Hence there is no distinction between a shiny, matte, or satin finish.

These subtle effects to the eye – what you see is a balance between refined craftsmanship and a rustic aesthetic – this requires building and skill.

The ring is tallest at 16mm at the front, tapering slightly towards its back.
