Fine cluster ring set with a 2.61ct unheated sapphire and accented with moonstones and diamonds in platinum and 22k.
The purplish pink stone is an African natural sapphire, displaying a saturated and intense hue.
A true description of its color would be grapefruit pink, picking up hues of a deeper variety of padparadscha sapphires.
This ring is handmade to bring about a statement ring using traditional jewelry-making techniques.
The ring mount is sculpted, not cast.
Its gold work is carved bit by bit until a contour is reached to qualify as an ‘heirloom’ jewel.
The main stone is not big, and smaller stones like this are not usually worked on so meticulously, but this velvety sapphire has a special color.
This is a double halo ring that will wear daintily, without losing its statement look.
In fact the immediacy of this ring is its subtle color palette.
The ring is not ornate, but its rococo form feels ornate: its cluster is a double halo, backed by a scalloped columnar gallery.
Platinum topped like many 19th century rings, with millegrain applied to each halo of diamond and moonstone.
All of this happens in a compact, fine-drawn way.
The moonstones in this ring are not ordinary stones, they are flawless moonstones with blue flash, so clear they are one with the outer row diamonds.
The ring is 2cm tall, but it is a comfort to wear on any finger, and any ring size.
There is only one ring like this, for it is so much work.
Anglo Indian or Edwardian, this ring is part of a series of double halo rings handmade in the way of heirloom techniques.
This one is called ‘Nightingale’; the other two rings are ‘Peacock’ and ‘Lotus’.
