Very Fine emerald jewel set with a 15ct Colombian emerald in 22k.

The emerald-themed pendant is a ‘twinning’ jewel, the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

The public face of the pendant showcases its vivid minor oil emerald, framed by rose cut diamonds.

The personal face unveils a cross of six emeralds, paved in a mosaic of diamonds.

The rule of size is applied: using accent white stones proportional to the green in order to underscore the meaning of each face. This mitigates what is an ornate ‘heirloom’ design.

We build this twinning jewel beginning with a whole tray of stones, working towards the puzzle-mosaic of form and function, before finally delineating the two faces with a field of moonstones.

The rule of bling is also applied: the sides of the pendant have no bling but sheen from the blue flash of moonstones. Hence the pendant only dazzles with diamonds on one plane (ie. the faces not the sides).

Since emeralds are not conventionally ‘shiny’ gems, using brilliant diamonds often overwhelm, creating bling over fire.

Our focus is to harvest the main emerald’s fire, by pairing it with diamonds that are rose cuts.

Not-too-big diamonds (5 pt), also the only full cut diamonds used in this pendant, accompany the emerald cut cross at its personal side.

The pendant has a depth as plush as a locket, all the space in between refracting towards the main emerald.

This light play is critical as it is what gives the public face of the pendant its iridescence, the rose cut diamonds exude the green of the emerald like a film of nacre.

The six emeralds that make up the cross are joined in a partitioned bezel-pronged setting that encapsulates the stones within – the cross displays flushed, cocooned.

A carousel of eleven demantoid garnets are present for both eclectic and ecclesiastical beauty.

The concealed in this pendant goes beyond its dualism.

An inconspicuous lone diamond bail is actually a built-in contraption that allows the faces to be swivelled without being removed from this chain, or any necklace worn with it.
