SIJS three-stone platinum ring set with a 13.24ct unheated sapphire and flanked by a pair of 3ctw emerald cut moonstones.
The lovely big sapphire is an infamous Ceylon cornflower blue, so quite obviously its hint of color we want to ‘mirror’ or ‘reflect’ in side stones.
These excellent grade moonstones flash blue in angles, while appearing like bright diamonds in natural light.
But, rather than use diamonds, which will cast a fathomable diamond’s glare on the natural cornflower beauty, we feel the gentle beam of moonstones would serve this purpose better.
Lesser use emerald cut moonstones pair the two well with its cushion cut centrepiece. In a three-stone ring, design subtlety is in the choice of cuts over other busier design options.
Even more subtle, all three stones are set within a double millegrain frame. These frames are so delicate our eyes hardly notice the stones are framed, but their work is to soften the corners of what are still many rectangles!
This ring is built like an observatory, so the wearer can gaze within the galleries all day 🙂
Even so, our intention is for the ring to have magnificent scope, so the three stones cover the entire finger top. To do so, for a small-ish finger, means we must contour the angle of the stones and yet maintain its gorgeous full coverage.
No design excess but in-visible design decisions.
