Toi et Moi Sapphire Ring

The two main sapphire stones hold the spectrum of pink and orange in satin gold.

The color you get can from these milky sapphires is mesmerising, like no other sapphire. They can occupy centrestage even if flanked by stones more fiery than them.

But this is not always done unless craftsmanship is mastered, which means the ring must be handmade at every stage.

Prongs in this multi stone setting are grain-set to disappear into the gold.

The two cups or buds are encased by purplish spinels; red spinels and diamonds carry the asymmetry on each side of the toi et moi.

The main sapphires (1.95 ct & 1.46 ct) are small stones. When small stones are set with still smaller stones, extra care must be taken with the prongs.

It is not gold but color the wearer can sense – continuing our work in jewelry à la light.

Stones of lower clarity with high color can pose a challenge but design and craft can move the eyes to where a composite picture restores soulfulness.

Diamonds weigh 0.5 ctw; the spinels weigh 1.8 ctw.
