This is a custom pair of earrings using old material (mollusk shell) provided by the customer.

The shell of the exotic emerald green snail is really lime green, the living green matched only by what else in stone but demantoid garnets.

Given the shell is delicate the gold work must pony up to its lightness, both in weight and aura.

There is little in design in this pair that does not originate from the organism’s life.

The gold spring takes the suggestion of the shell’s markings, in effect ‘springy’ from its remembrance of ‘being’.

Long after it is gone, such a wonderful creation of Nature is surely worth being immortalised in jewelry art.
