Muzo Emerald Ring

Fine Muzo Colombian emerald ring set in 22k.

The 2.8ct minor oil emerald is vivid and clean, the stone appearing much bigger through its setting.

This design holds the octagonal cut of an emerald in a nuanced way.

This is through texture and the color of its gold, not through departing or pivoting the stone’s cut/shape, or adding accent stones.

The thick-set frame is full and in fact a stepped bezel, this is necessary to secure the softer emerald for everyday wear.

But it is flushed to wear low, since this will wear on the pinky.

The ‘bark’ is its dressing, the etching is texturized on all surfaces of the gold, outside and inside, leaving a clean gleaning where the bezel touches the stone.

This little gleaning is the original color of virgin gold, pushing the stone from its bark-browned mount.

We roasted the gold to a brown, seldom done unless you have a stone whose color can do anything.

Browning the gold, as opposed to polished golden, lets us create a sublime ‘pinky’ ring hosting its vivid stone.

Only one or two touches are allowed to be a simple ring, where interesting design can be achieved through quiet denouement.
