Roman Garnet Brooch Pendant, Handmade Brooch Singapore

Fine pendant brooch set with a 38.51ct spessartine garnet in 24k and 22k.

The double cabochon garnet is orange with an undertone of yellow, though it displays reddish.

A precise color to describe the cabochon’s hue would be ‘blood orange’.

The garnet measures 18 x 16 x 12 mm. The jewel measures 22 x 20 mm.

The transparent stone is tantalising in a pendant or a brooch, surely better both.

Given the weight of the stone, we devised a trick to balance the jewel, in order to face up properly through both ways of wearing.

The ‘Greco Roman’ gold work is hand built, not cast. The granulation and pin are set in 22k while the bezel is 24k.

This distinction encapsulates the stone with absolute warmth (pure 24k gold), and is able to take care of design in a gold hard enough (22k virgin gold).

The use of high karat gold accompanying a soulful stone is a journey that goes on and on.
