Multicolor Sapphire Necklace

Fine sapphire lavaliere necklace set in 14k.

The sapphires are unheated ‘rainbow’ sapphires weighing 42.25ctw.

The sapphires range from pastel to light tones, with the bare three deeper in tone.

These light tones emanate to the darkened gold, encapsulated they set off a unique subdued radiance of non-primary colors.

These in-between colors of natural sapphires now flaunt their reflected selves, inviting the eye towards the lustrous unexpected.

There is the sombre rosary somewhere in its lavaliere form, in blackened gold and in its swallow noir, all engendered in all.

The largest stone is another in-between color, a red-orange tourmaline weighing 7.2ct, revealed in a cathedral bezel large and centred.

In fact, all stones are set with as many prongs as possible, though one is slow to notice, for that is the beauty of Georgian bezel symmetry.

The sapphires tremble on these fully-backed gold mounts, rocking here and there, but always turning back.

Continuing with the ecclesiastical, the swallow is carved from jade, a stone of ritual capped by a bell jar of diamond.

The 17″ necklace can be worn without its drop (5.5cm) , and further the lone diamond swallow can be detached to wear as a pendant.
